- Open-source code for Linux® developers and enthusiasts
- Create firmware for any specialized applications
- Twice the WAN-to-LAN speed of other home routersÂâ€Â
†Maximum wireless signal rate derived from IEEE standard 802.11 specifications. Actual data throughput will vary. Network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, and network overhead, lower actual data throughput rate. NETGEAR makes no express or implied representations or warranties about this product’s compatibility with any future standards, including 802.11n
Open source flexibility
NETGEARÂ’s Wireless-G router delivers open source code for Linux developers and hobbyists. The KWGR614 offers greater flexibility with detachable antenna. Additionally, the Wireless-G router delivers up to 2x the WAN-to-LAN throughput of other Wireless-G routers. The KWGR614 router admits only legitimate traffic by combing two proven standards: NAT (Network Address Transfer) and SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection). It also delivers the highest level of wireless network security with WPA (Wireless Protected Access).
Key Features:
- All the features of the WGR614 Wireless Cable Router PLUS:
- Open-source code for Linux Developers & Enthusiasts
- Create firmware for specialised applications, e.g. gaming and VoIP
- Detachable antennas provide additional flexibility
- Twice the WAN-to-LAN speed of other home broadband routers
- Compatible with existing wireless networks (802.11g & 802..11b)
Develop your own Firmware
The KWGR614 Open-source Wireless Router enables Linux developers and technical enthusiasts to tweak the source code to build in support for applications, either to add extra functionality previously unavailable or prioritise traffic to improve throughput to a given application.
Detachable Antennas
The KWGR614 Open-source Wireless Router has 2 detachable antennas to provide additional flexibility for increased signal strength. The two, 2dBi antennas could be swapped out for higher gain antennas for increased throughput.
Advanced Network Security
As with most of NETGEARÂ’s Wireless Broadband Routers, the KWGR614 Open-source Wireless Router admits only legitimate traffic by combining two proven standards: NAT and SPI. It also delivers the highest level of wireless network security with Wireless Protected Access, WPA2/PSK.
