What is a Grey Import?

What is OEM Software?
This varies between software providers. Essentially it is software which is intended to be installed by system builders and often comes with minimal packaging and sometimes a modified support contract. For example Microsoft will support OEM products but require you to register as a system builder. OEM software is normally identical in functionality to its retail boxed counterpart. SoftwareFirst will always ship retail boxed products unless OEM is stated somewhere in the title or on the product detail page, if we do state OEM we will outline the limitations of the OEM version (if any). Beware of other suppliers stating 'we ship unpackaged' or similar if they are avoiding stating OEM they have something to hide about what you are buying.
Pirated Software?
If you find software ridiculously cheap it is often pirated. Do not be fooled by a professional retail box there are factories in the Far East making perfect replicas. It will work for a time but soon after you go online it will be traced and often disabled possibly with legal implications. It is also common for pirates to imbed 'backdoor' additions which will send them your personal details and even allow you PC to be used as a host for large scale hacking attempts.
Remember software can legally not be refunded once opened - make sure you buy from a reputable source always. If it looks to good to be true it often is.
